In many regions, there is less and less snow, the ski season is getting shorter, and unprofitable lifts are being shut down or dismantled. What remains are empty and abandoned infrastructures, the chairlift turning into a 'ruin of the Anthropocene'. What happens to these remnants of a melting world? 

Creature metamorphosis is a site-specific performance that repurposes chairlifts in the Swiss Alps and proposes a transformation in the spirit of ecological change. Merging elements of dance, costume, and a soundscape that draws on the Alpine landscape, 15 performers invite to a performance that takes place both on the ground and in the air. On the chairlift, performers as well as visitors become floating sculptures passing by. 

As the opening of the series, the chairlift in Alt St. Johann was repurposed as a venue for the public performance. The performance was produced and promoted in cooperation with Klangwelt Toggenburg as part of their summer programme.
