24th & 25th April, 7.30pm, Glove That Fits, Hackney, London
An unholy matrimony celebrates new possibilities for the future. Join us for two nights across utopia where we’ll explore the dreams and visions of everything that is and could be. Livia Rita, her gang of creatures and a range of emerging artists will guide you through two surreal wedding ceremonies framed by performance, music, dance and fashion, culminating in a 360 live show by Livia Rita and her witches themselves. Step into a living, moving, breathing installation space that will overwhelm and seduce your senses. Pick your night, pick your poison, pick your cure and join a ceremony that might seal our future with a kiss. All you have to do is say I do.
The two distinct performances will feature the work of promising emerging artists across mediums from performance to music and visual art. The performance will vary across the two nights, so expect different artists that will please, tease and transport you to a world post-humans.
The Brexit Wedding
The Brexit Wedding was a one-in-a-lifetime evening event which happened in September 2017 in response to the Brexit Referendum.
IN THE NAME OF LOVE, we’ll start the future shady underground dealings for exchanging passports.
Brexit is breaking our hearts - this is a beautifully broken attempt to repair a failing but fixable geopolitical bond.
We’ll turn the meaning of a wedding upside down. At heart, this Brexit Wedding will reinvent and consecrate new identities: moving on from traditional, neatly restrictive binary categories like British and Continental, Man and Woman, Husband and Wife, Straight and Gay. We will mark the day of Brexit with a tornado of creative, resistant and youthful force.
